1. Ida B. Wells (1862–1931) was a pioneering African American journalist and activist who exposed the brutality of lynching and fought for racial justice and women's rights. As a co-founder of the NAACP, she played a crucial role in advancing civil rights and equality in the United States.
2. Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906) was a prominent leader in the women's suffrage movement, dedicated to securing voting rights for women in the United States. As co-founder of the National Woman Suffrage Association, she played a pivotal role in advancing gender equality and social reform.
3. Zitkala-Ša (1876–1938), also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, was a Native American writer, musician, and activist who advocated for Indigenous rights and cultural preservation. As a member of the Yankton Sioux Nation, she used her talents to challenge assimilation policies, co-found the National Council of American Indians, and share the stories and struggles of her people.
4. Tye Leung Schulze (1887–1972) was the first Chinese American woman to vote in a U.S. election and the first to hold a federal government job as an interpreter at Angel Island Immigration Station. 5. Wilhelmina Kekelaokalaninui Widemann Dowsett (1861–1929) was a Native Hawaiian suffragist and founder of the National Women’s Equal Suffrage Association of Hawaii. She worked to ensure Hawaiian women had a voice in political matters, advocating for their voting rights during a pivotal period of Hawaii's transition to U.S. statehood.
