DAY TRIP TO THE TEXAS CAPITOL

Take your advocacy further and join us for a field trip to the Texas Legislature! LWV TX will provide training and instructions for navigating the Capitol and meeting with lawmakers about issues impacting Texas voters. Materials and a t-shirt will be provided.

SCHEDULE

5:30 AM - Shuttle departs Houston 

8:30/9 AM - Arrive at the Capitol

12 PM - Lunch

3 PM - Shuttle departs Austin

6:30/7 PM - Arrive in Houston

REGISTRATION

• LWV Houston will be provide transportation to and from Austin, a light breakfast, and snacks.  LWV Houston will also cover your $20 Registration Fee paid to LWV Texas which includes administrative costs, lunch, and a t-shirt.

Advocacy Day Field Trip

JANE NELSON, KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Our keynote speaker will be Texas Secretary of State, Jane Nelson. Appointed the 115th Texas Secretary of State by Governor Greg Abbott on January 5, 2023, Secretary Nelson is a businesswoman and former teacher who served two terms on the State Board of Education and 30 years as a State Senator representing North Texas. Nelson was the first woman in Texas history to chair a standing budget-writing committee, serving as Chair of the Senate Finance Committee for four sessions. She was also a member of the Senate State Affairs Committee, which oversees election policy, for eight sessions.
