Registering to vote is a powerful act of patriotism. When new citizens take their oath of allegiance to the United States at naturalization ceremonies, the League of Women Voters of Houston is there to register and enable them to cast their ballot at the very next election. It is an exciting privilege that few new citizens take for granted.

We are one of the few voter registration groups welcomed into naturalization ceremonies in the nation. In this past year alone, we have registered 21,500 new citizens to vote with more than 400 VDVRs deployed.

We also recently introduced a new initiative for deploying volunteer deputy voter registrars to even more events, further expanding our mission to empower and activate voters in the Houston community.

You are encouraged to assist in this historic registration initiative by becoming a VDVR and volunteering at a naturalization ceremony. Contact us with your interest in volunteering and the Naturalization Team will send out an email requesting volunteers for these ceremonies that occur at least monthly.
