On January 25,  the Commissioners’ Court approved a resolution designating Tuesday, January 25, 2022 as Voter Registration Day in Harris County, a day of civic celebration marked by voter registration activity throughout the county.

Resolution WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters of Houston has served the people of Harris County since 1920 by providing a full menu of nonpartisan, impartial, and reliable voter services; and WHEREAS, the League’s long, honorable, and well-earned history of public service has most prominently included programs and services such as candidate debates, forums, conversations, its legendary Voters Guide to the Election and the Candidates, and nonpartisan voter outreach initiatives; and WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters of Houston steadfastly believes that encouraging every qualified citizen to register and vote is a high civic virtue that leads to a more inclusive democracy and a better life for everyone; and WHEREAS, the Democratic and Republican parties will each conduct their Primary Elections on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, the last day to register to vote in these Primary Elections is January 31, 2022; and BE IT RESOLVED that Harris County Commissioners Court hereby recognizes January 25, 2022, as Voter Registration Day in Harris County a day of civic celebration marked by voter registration activity throughout the county. Special voter registration projects will be staffed by certified Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars, organized and guided by the League of Women Voters of Houston. It is hereby ORDERED that this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of Commissioners Court this 25th day of January 2022 .
